AMERICAN CONSERVATION EXPERIENCE (ACE) is looking for three energetic people for a two-week project to improve the native habitat at New Belgium Brewery. The project will take place from May 23rd to June 3rd.

Program Goal: New Belgium Brewing Company has put a lot of resources into various environmental initiatives, and we're excited to work with this local partner for the first time. Participants will help contribute to the environmental sustainability of the site by controlling non-native invasive species. The work will involve cut stump and foliar spraying of a variety of invasive species on the New Belgium property. The crew will work along the creek that runs through the middle of the property and into the French Broad River, helping to stop the spread of invasive species along the river corridor. They will also work in a field that sits between the brewery and the road.

Location: New Belgium Brewery, 21 Craven St, Asheville, NC 28806

Benefits: Members will receive a Living Allowance Stipend of $400 for the 2 week project. Lunch and snacks will be provided for onsite workdays. Members will also have the opportunity to learn about non-native

invasive species management.

Schedule: Daily schedules can vary depending on the weather and logistics. Typically, the work week will be Monday-Friday from 7:00AM- 3:30PM with a half hour lunch break and two 15-minute breaks.

Applicant Requirements: Must be US Citizen or permanent resident, aged 18-30. Must have positive attitude and a strong work ethic. Must be interested in working outdoors, be capable of performing physically demanding labor, and be able to work in inclement weather, such as temperatures below freezing, high winds, intense sunshine, rain, and snow. Applicants should expect to hike extended distances on rough terrain carrying 40 lbs.

ACE has a zero-tolerance policy for illegal drugs (including recreational use of Marijuana) and underage drinking. ACE reserves the right to require drug testing. Must be willing to undergo a basic criminal history check. The intent of this is not to disqualify anyone from being able to participate, but rather make sure that we have a safe working environment. If you have questions or concerns about the process, please contact Olivia (email below).

Gear: ACE provides each member with their work shirts and any Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) the member might need, such as helmets, safety glasses, gloves, cloth masks, and hand sanitizer. The member will provide his or her own work pants, rain gear, and hiking boots.
